August is National Sandwich Month, so of course I celebrated with a sandwich tour around Annapolis!
I think sandwiches are like cocktails. As long as you start with a liquor, whatever you choose to add-in will morph into a delicious drink. With sandwiches, as long as you start with two pieces of bread, you can craft it into a culinary masterpiece of your choosing. I put together a list of my favorite sandwich types, and where to find the best ones in the area. Check out my picks below.
BREAD AND BUTTER KITCHEN - 303 Second St A, Annapolis, MD 21403
Grilled chicken, bacon, avocado, provolone and chipotle mayo on sourdough.
Bread and Butter Kitchen’s seasonal menu offers many handheld choices, but their Chicken Chipotle Panini is my favorite. Not only is it my go-to at this dockside cafe, but I dare you to find another panini around Naptown that tastes better than this one. A culinary fusion of cream, smoke, and salt will instantly satisfy your warm sandwich hunger.
EVELYN'S - 26 Annapolis St, Annapolis, MD 21401
Vanilla spiced brioche French toast, ham and swiss, grilled and dusted with powdered sugar.
A Monte Cristo is the ultimate sweet + savory sandwich, and Evelyn’s has the best one in town. Their ample portion of brioche French toast delicately wraps around fresh ham and melted swiss cheese. This memorable dish is available for breakfast and lunch - so enjoy this decadent sandwich all..day...long….
